Mark Long, deputy head of the brachytherapy physics division at the Royal Surrey was invited to speak at the national Elekta brachytherapy user group meeting.

On the 10th October 2019 Mark presented a discussion on the progress which has been made in Guildford on in the implementation of the HDR technique used to treat prostate patients at the Royal Surrey. This included a dosimetric summary of the first patients treated and also the streamlining in the process which has taken place to drastically reduce the overall procedure time by 40% when using the Oncentra Prostate software with the Flexitron.

There were a number of other high profile speakers presenting throughout the two day event and a number of positive outcomes which will go towards improving the effectiveness and efficiency of treatments received by the patients.
