Project Information

The OPTIMAM Medical Image Database (OMI-DB) collects NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) images from different centres and its main aim is to serve as a large repository of medical images for research and training purposes.

OMI-DB’s focus is to collect data to support a research project called OPTIMAM2, funded by Cancer Research-UK, which evaluates how various factors affect cancer detection using mammographic images. You can find out more about OPTIMAM2 Research by visinting their webpage.

However, other research groups can apply for access to the images. These applications are considered by an internal subcommittee made up of members of the OPTIMAM2 steering committee. Any access to the images is subject to a sharing agreement created in collaboration with Cancer Research technology (CRT). Click here to find out more on how to get access to the images.
