Dr Emma Lewis
I am a Principal Computer Scientist with research interests in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning for medical image analysis. After studying Mathematics at Cambridge, I completed a PhD in applied numerical methods at the University of Manchester. Having worked in industry as a software engineer, I went on to academic and clinical scientific computing roles at UCLH, the University of Surrey, and University Hospital Southampton. My work focuses on the design and development of clinical healthcare IT systems, building DICOM and clinical datasets and software supporting clinical services and research. I also contribute to training and professional development in Clinical Scientific Computing. I lead the STP Computing in Healthcare course at Royal Surrey, am Chair of the National Clinical Scientific Computing Training Network, and a member of the IPEM Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group.
