Dr Jenny Venton
I joined the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in 2023 as a Computer Scientist, where I collaborate across Trusts to evaluate mammography AI tools for both screening and symptomatic applications. I also work extensively with the OPTIMAM breast screening dataset established and maintained by our team. Previously, I spent four years at the UK's National Physical Laboratory where I developed and evaluated AI tools for physiological signals. I have also contributed as an ethics advisor to an international research consortium applying machine learning to data collected from wearables. I completed my PhD in 2018, developing a computational model of the spinal cord to better understand a rare neurological disease, followed by postdoctoral research applying advanced signal processing and machine learning methods for disease detection. I am fortunate to have been involved in several publications and conferences, but am particularly proud of being invited to speak at the Royal Society's Frontiers of Science meeting in Japan, and of presenting my work to the public at the Science Museum in London!
