The results of the study will be used to enable the NHS Breast Screening Programme decide whether and how to implement tomosynthesis for routine screening<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Primary objectives.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To compare the cost \u2013 effectiveness<\/g> of breast cancer screening using DBT + 2DDM or S2D with screening using 2DDM by measuring cancer detection rates, interval cancer rates, size and lymph node status of Grade 2 and 3 invasive cancers in intervention<\/g> (DBT + 2DDM or S2D) and 2DDM (standard care) groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondary objectives. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. To demonstrate non-inferiority of\u00a0DBT\u00a0+ S2D compared to\u00a0DBT\u00a0+\u00a02DDM. <\/li>
  2. To measure the impact of\u00a0DBT\u00a0+\u00a02DDM\u00a0screening on screening recall rates, benign biopsy rates at diagnostic assessment and at surgery. <\/li>
  3. To measure the effect of\u00a0DBT\u00a0+\u00a02DDM\u00a0screening compared to\u00a02DDM\u00a0in patient groups according to breast density, type of screen, age. <\/li>
  4. To develop methods for measuring reader performance with\u00a0DBT\u00a0+\u00a02DDM\u00a0screening.<\/li>
  5. To carry out retrospective reader studies to measure the effect of other\u00a0 screening<\/g> strategies \u2013\u00a02DDM\u00a0vs\u00a0DBT\u00a0alone,\u00a02DDM\u00a0vs\u00a0DBT\u00a0+ synthetic 2D,\u00a02DDM\u00a0vs\u00a02DDM\u00a0+ limited tomo<\/g> views.<\/li>
  6. To compare patient preferences for breast cancer screening with\u00a02DDM\u00a0+\u00a0DBT\u00a0vs\u00a02DDM.<\/li>
  7. To develop & evaluate Artificial Intelligence Algorithms for the Analysis of DBT images <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
