{"id":1011,"date":"2019-01-30T15:43:55","date_gmt":"2019-01-30T15:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medphys.royalsurrey.nhs.uk\/department\/?p=1011"},"modified":"2019-01-30T15:43:55","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T15:43:55","slug":"multiple-abstracts-accepted-for-largest-european-radiotherapy-and-oncology-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medphys.royalsurrey.nhs.uk\/department\/2019\/01\/30\/multiple-abstracts-accepted-for-largest-european-radiotherapy-and-oncology-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Multiple abstracts accepted for largest European radiotherapy and oncology conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of abstracts submitted by the radiotherapy physics department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital have bene accepted for presentation at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.estro.org\/congresses-meetings\/items\/estro-38\">ESTRO 38<\/a>, Europe\u2019s largest radiotherapy conference with almost 5000 delegates in 2017 and has four complete days plus additional teaching workshops and symposiums prior to its official opening.<\/p>\n<p>There will be an oral presentation given by the head of radiotherapy physics, <a href=\"https:\/\/medphys.royalsurrey.nhs.uk\/department\/staff-members\/elizabeth-adams\/\">Liz Adams<\/a> on the evolution of knowledge based planning for cervical cancer. Posters will be presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/medphys.royalsurrey.nhs.uk\/department\/staff-members\/matthew-bolt\/\">Matt Bolt<\/a> on the potential impact of dose deviations within the dosimetry chain on clinical outcomes, and <a href=\"https:\/\/medphys.royalsurrey.nhs.uk\/department\/staff-members\/gail-distefano\/\">Gail Distefano<\/a> on the UK\u2019s progress in the use of advanced stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) treatments.
