Professor Nutbrown recently joined the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Surrey University, where she is Professor of Medical Physics. In her current hospital role, she provides management and scientific leadership to over 100 staff within the Department of Medical Physics incorporating a regional radiation protection service, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy physics, scientific computing, technical services and the National Co-ordinating Centre for the Physics of Mammography, run on behalf of Public Health England. Previously she worked at the National Physical Laboratory for 23 years, most recently as Head of Medical Physics. In this role she established the NPL Metrology for Medical Physics Centre (MEMPHYS) that brought together and expanded upon NPL medical physics related activities with the aim to support and accelerate the development and implementation of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic technologies into the clinic. In addition, she was instrumental in securing a £9M ISCF programme to establish the NPL Medical Imaging Accelerator, supporting UK companies to accelerate new medical imaging products to the market and clinic. She currently sits on the NPL MEMPHYS advisory board, the PHE Radiotherapy Dataset Information Group, the UK National Body-Temperature Group and the UKAS Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Technical Advisory Committee.
